I just want to control the screen, applications. At the same time, I want to retain current Ulteo's virtual session properties. How far can the lightweight desktop environment be controlled to present the screen that you want to present to the browser user? Can we have multiple screen configurations. Ie For username1, the session is launched with screen one with a set of widgets 1 and 2 Ie For username 2, the session is launched with screen two with a set of widggets 2 and 3 I hope i communicated the requirements clearly. It is about the control of what the user sees when he logs in rather than let the user play around in an unfamiliar environment. Well... you can modify everything Xfce offers, but there's no interface to do so. The only solution for now is to edit /etc/xdg/xfce*. What's also possible is to run a "normal" xfce session (on an Xubuntu 8.04 for instance, or any distribution using Xfce 4.4), customize as you wish, and copy the config (~/.config/xfce*) to /etc/xdg in the OVD chroot. Not very handy but doable. > Can we have multiple screen configurations. > > Ie For username1, the session is launched with screen one with a set of > widgets 1 and 2 > Ie For username 2, the session is launched with screen two with a set of > widggets 2 and 3 For the moment it's not possible. > I hope i communicated the requirements clearly. I was wondering whether you could tweak it so that just a single application runs and no other control is visible, and the user accesses this single application. I want to remove all the other apps, control panels The purpose is "To webify an application using Ubuntu". So the user simply interacts with a single application without going astray. I think this would something great that could be achieved with Ulteo Regards, Prabhu On Fri, May 8, 2009 at 11:10 AM, Gauvain Pocentek wrote: > Hello, > > On 05/08/2009 06:55 AM, Raghavendra Prabhu wrote: > > I know that Ulteo uses XFCE as the lightweight desktop > > > > Can this be customized to present the desktop the way in which we want > > to. I want to remove all the other apps, control panels It's already possible with the OVD, and it's part of our next development steps to offer the capability to run published apps from a an web interface.
